Melanie Skoglund, VP and Group Planning Director at Compass Point Media, has hopped between Michigan, Minnesota, and Miami (Florida) over the years, earning great results for clients everywhere while raising a hockey-playing family. Here’s a few questions we asked Melanie:
Do you have a favorite quote?
The greater part of our happiness or misery depends on our disposition and not our circumstances – Martha Washington. This quote reminds me that while I can’t control every situation, I can control my response.
Any hobbies? Don’t be shy we accept all types.
Playing golf with my family and cheering on my son and daughter during all of their hockey games. Yes, I’m a passionate hockey mom, just not one of those crazy ones!
What’s the one thing you couldn’t live without? Why?
My dog Maverick because he always agrees with me.
If you could be any brand, what brand would you be and why?
Dyrdek Enterprises. Owner Rob Dyrdek leveraged his creativity, business savvy and professional skateboard career to create several non-profit foundations and innovative businesses. I’m inspired by his principles and entrepreneurial spirit.
What is your biggest pet peeve?
People who are all talk and no action.
If you had to be in a talent show, what would you do?
Play the piano. I haven’t played in a while, but given the money my parents poured into lessons I think I could pull a piece together
If you were to write your own brief bio, what would you most want people to know about you?
I started my media career in Minneapolis, but my husband’s job took us to Miami, Traverse City, Michigan and back home to Minnesota. During this time I worked at multiple agencies and ran a successful consulting business as well as working on the client-side.
