Members of the IPG Women’s Leadership Network and Friends team

On Sunday, September 13th, the New York Chapter of the WLN participated in the 2009 Komen New York City Race for the Cure® in Central Park, raising over $6,000 in donations.  The money raised will assist  the Greater New York City Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® in funding vital breast health education, outreach, screening and treatment programs.

This Sunday’s Race marked the first time an official WLN team has participated in the Race for the Cure®.  The event was  organized by Katie Roche, McCann; Sarah Helms, McCann; Christine McGay Conese, IPG;  Kelly Megel, Draftfcb; and Neely Baker, McCann; members of the WLN NY Events Committee.  The IPG Women’s Leadership Network and Friends team had 41 members, the majority of whom work at IPG agencies.  Each team member did individual fundraising leading up to the race – setting a personal goal to raise as much as possible for this cause.

The team set out to raise $2,500, but together raised over double that goal. The total is now at $6,168 – with donations still coming in! WLN NY hopes to carry on this tradition next year and to raise even more for this important cause.

Thanks to a motivated team, dedicated planners and a worthwhile cause, the WLN NY’s 2009 Komen New York City Race for the Cure® was hugely successful.
