“Having grown up in a rural part of the South, I witnessed firsthand the lack of encouragement (and even discouragement) women can sometimes receive when it comes to entering a science, technology, engineering, or math field. Lack of diversity in any field encourages "group think" and limits creativity. For the benefit of us all, we need to cultivate interest in STEM among today’s young women.”
