Re-reading the first six profiles in the “Rise of Female Chief Operating Officers” series, I had a Beautiful Mind moment (you know the scene when Russell Crowe’s character sees patterns light up before him, that was basically me over the Labor Day weekend). Granted, my moment had far fewer theorems and delusion. Instead, it had important, universal learnings for women interested in getting not just a seat at the table but a power seat.

My talk, with Shirley Au, President and COO of digital agency Huge, published below, hit on three of these big picture themes that I want to call out:

1. Whatever your job is, do it the best it has ever been done. It’s this kind of positive thinking (and doing) that lands hard-working, driven ladies in the line of opportunity.
